Title: “Toastmasters - Business Tools for Modern Times”

 

We’re always explaining the roles & responsibilities of each duty in the club and wondering how this can help us outside the meeting room.

On Monday 13th September 2010, at Thai Airway International Toastmasters Club meeting, DTM, Dr. Tim Cornwall of Capitol Toastmaster Club explained us how Toastmasters techniques can help us in our business & work.

Every duty in the meeting has benefits.

Toastmaster of the Day :

  • Train us what is the effective introduction.

  • Always use correct title of the person; i.e. CC, DTM, Khun Ying, etc.

  • Make introduction the way that speakers feel comfortable.

  • Don’t comment the quality of speaker; say only what you learn from the speech.

 

Word of the Day :

- In Capitol Toastmaster Club meeting, they have “Thought of the Day” to share idea.

Joke Telling :

- Effective & useful method of story telling.

Prepared Speech :

  • To be professional and always be professional!

  • Understand project requirement & factors to be evaluated.

Table Topics Master :

  • Help people shine

  • Make sure that everybody you ask can answer the question.

  • Pick the right person

Topic Respondent :

- Make sure that your answer is something that will always be remembered by the audience.

Personal Evaluation :

- Sandwich method: bread for all good points, spread for what can be better & meat for thing to be improved.

General Evaluation :

- Evaluate everything, everybody including personal evaluator.

Timekeeper :

- Learn to Control yourself

Ah Counter :

- Reduce listener fatigue

Grammarian :

- Make sure you don’t make or miss any mistakes.
