Title : Keys To Becoming the Speaker You Want To Be

On Monday 27^th July in the Education Session, the Thai Airways International Toastmasters Club was very privileged to have ATMG Kasemchai as our guest lecturer on the title of “Keys to becoming the speaker you want to be”

His speech on that day not only gave us knowledgeable information, but also left us “taking away value” which we can adopt into our own speech projects in the future.

These are some of the good tips that I would like to share with you today:

As ATMG Kasemchai said the Keys to becoming the Speaker and the Leader we want to be, we need the 3Cs which are: Content , Confidence and Connection, to achieve our goal.

The first C, Content , is to make great content ; and there are 3 mains thing to keep in mind to achieve this.

1. First of all, setting one single and clear topic. Good content should focus on one clear topic with important 1 - 2 key messages.

2. Secondly, coming up with useful information which easy to understand and remember. The tips is easy, just know who your target audience is, and get to the point. Moreover supporting more details with story, testimony or statistics to make the content reliable.

3. The last significant thing for making wonderful content is leaving the Take Away value. This is the content that audience can adopt the key messages or information to use in some part of their life ; it is something that the audience can learn or think and keep following of what the speaker said.

The second C, Confidence. How the confidence can be built?

The answer is very practical. It’s entirely stem from ourselves. Be natural , be genuine and be yourself.

The beginning of building confidence is by encourage yourself with positive attitude. So let’s start talking to ourselves that “YES,WE CAN DO” and everything will be better.

Don’t forget that the great secret behind all success is preparation. To build more confidence we need to rehearse and rehearse.

Last but not least, the number three C ; Connection.

• The meaningful connection between the speaker and audience can be created by eye contact , smiling and laughing together.

• As the speaker, we need to create the comfortable and friendly atmosphere to the audience.

• Two –way communication can bring to use in order to get reach to audience.

In summary, what ATMG Kasemchai did emphasize at the end of his speech are the take away value and positive attitude toward ourselves which I’m totally agree with. To me, to make the speech more meaningful and completely perfect, we need to combine the 3Cs key together and mix up by our own experience, our own standpoint. Then we send it sincerely to our audience in our own style. That is the meaning of Taking Away value in my point of view.
